The U.S. military said it disabled two Iranian crude carriers and destroyed a third tanker, which was empty, after an aircraft carrier and a destroyer evaded Iranian ballistic missiles. Iran said it later retaliated against U.S. vessels. Its Foreign Ministry called the tanker strikes a war crime.

Clashes between Houthi rebels and forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government killed more than 60 fighters and civilians along the country’s western coast. Government-controlled media said its forces captured Hais district in Hodeida province. The reported territorial change came from one side in the conflict.
